ADDITIONAL VALUE EXPERIENCES IN FAITH

Learn more about the sacrament. Write in your journal some of the promises you make ass you partake of the sacrament and remember your baptismal covenants and what you do to keep those promises.

Over and over, every Sunday, I realize why we do partake of the sacrament each week. And actually the atonement of Christ is something we can apply just about each and every moment of our life. I have been reading a great book, "Weakness Is Not Sin," by Wendy... well, Wendy someone that helps me realize that although the atonement is specifically for sins, Heavenly Father also wants to help us with our many, many weaknesses.

The sacrament is an extremely literal reminder of what Christ and Heavenly Father have given us - it is simply up to us to pick up and use it.

Increase your understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Write down your feelings about the Savior and what He has done for you. Share your feelings in a testimony meeting.

Gratitude. And that's pretty much what I expressed in my testimony. It's there - it's already done - it's free - and it's all for us. Pick it up and use it.

FAITH VALUE EXPERIENCES

1. Learn about faith from the scriptures and living prophets. Exercise your own faith by establishing a habit of prayer in your life. Begin by saying your morning and evening prayers regularly. After three weeks of following this pattern (March 1, 2010), discuss with a leader what you have learned about faith and daily personal prayer. In your journal, express your feelings about faith and prayer.

It was surprising how much better my days went when I remembered to have a 'real' morning prayers (compared to my normal 'bless-me-as-I-race-out-the-door-I'm-already-late"). And it also helped me become more aware of how self-centered our prayers can become - mememememe. If I view myself as an instrument of God, my concern reaches outside myself and I become more aware of what I can do to help others.

2. Discover the principles of faith taught by the mothers of Helaman's stripling warriors. With a mother or leader, discuss the qualities a woman needs to teach children to have faith and to base their decisions on gospel truths. How can these principles help you in your life today and help you prepare to be a mother? Record your thoughts in your journal.

It is amazing how children do copy you - for good or for bad. Looking back, there are a lot of times I wish I had been stronger and didn't lean so heavily on my kids - but it also makes me feel good that they know what my one of my first questions will be "Have you prayed about it?" Again, if I only knew then what I know now, I think I could have done a lot of things better as a mother -- but now I get to use it as a grandmother!

3. Living gospel principles requires faith. Choose a principle such as prayer, tithing, fasting, repentance, or keeping the Sabbath day holy. In your own home, plan and present a family home evening about how faith helps you live that gospel principle. In your journal, write down one of these experiences and describe your feelings about faith.

Tithing is something that has again and again showed how obedience brings blessings. I recently gave a FHE because certain family members do not have that same testimony. And you do have to have faith in paying it.
